This ticket entitles an adult or a child to entry to Wallandsfest 2022.

Wallands has long been the only school in Lewes with its own festival – Wallandsfest! A 24-hour event where Wallands families are invited to camp in the school grounds and enjoy a range of activities and entertainment.

The last Wallandsfest ran in 2019 and with Covid restrictions now lifted, we feel privileged to be able to bring it back for 2022.

Wallandsfest is a great chance for families to come together and celebrate the school community. It’s so exciting for children to experience a night together under the stars, enjoying crafts, activities, music and laughter. And the parents have a good party, too, once the kids are in bed!

There’ll be activities during the daylight hours, and a bar and café available all day. In the evening there’s a disco and large campfire.

This is a school community event, so here are some key points to note:

  • The event runs for 24 hours, from 12pm Saturday (17/09/22) to 12pm Sunday. During that time, school gates will only be open for 4 hours, for people with Wallandsfest tickets:

Saturday 11am – 12pm: camper vans enter the grounds

Saturday 12pm – 1pm: tents enter the grounds

Sunday 11am – 2pm: tents exit the grounds

Sunday 1pm – 2pm: camper vans exit the grounds

  • Outside of these times, school gates will be locked. You’ll only be able to leave in a genuine emergency – the organisers can’t open the gates for minor issues such as forgotten items or needing to walk the dog! Please make arrangements so you can relax on site for the whole festival. We need to do this as we have children roaming free in the grounds, and we need to keep the site safe and secure.
  • By buying a ticket, each adult is committing to a volunteer shift of at least 2 hours. Wallandsfest is run by the community, so everyone needs to muck in to make it work. Please complete the volunteer form at the point of purchase Wallandsfest 2022 Helper Preferences (office.com)
  • We’ll leave no trace of the festival in the school grounds – apart from happy memories! The event takes place on a weekend during term time, and children will be returning to school the following day. So guests are responsible for ensuring no mess or damage is left on the school premises.
  • Parents are responsible for their children at all times. This can be a challenge, as the field gets extremely dark at night. Parents of very young children may want to consider carefully how they manage this (torches and buggies are a must!). Parents also need to plan for who’ll look after their child(ren) while they carry out their volunteer shift.
  • T shirts will be available to buy online before the end of term.
